Hairs on Head
When your child is your arms, you feel that you’re the richest man in the world. Likewise the Father towards us.
As devoted as any earthly parent may be, that parent would never count the hairs of his/her child. But the Lord does that for us. This shows that God is involved in every detail of our lives.
Candelabra typifies Church
Although, the candelabra is one of the pieces of furniture in the tabernacle, the bible does not record the specifications of the candelabra, only its weight is given. Why? The candelabra typifies the Church.
For this reason, a church which is small should not feel condemned, as it is nevertheless weighty.
However, a big church has got both quantity and quality (quality will always give rise to quantity) and it can do more for the Lord and the extension of His kingdom.
Financial stewardship (tithing etc) is the test of a good church, and sharing is the hallmark of a church.
Trespass Offering
Num 18:8-10
Num 18:8 And the LORD spoke to Aaron: “Here, I Myself have also given you charge of My heave offerings, all the holy gifts of the children of Israel; I have given them as a portion to you and your sons, as an ordinance forever.
Num 18:9 This shall be yours of the most holy things reserved from the fire: every offering of theirs, every grain offering and every sin offering and every trespass offering which they render to Me, shall be most holy for you and your sons.
Num 18:10 In a most holy place you shall eat it; every male shall eat it. It shall be holy to you.
The expression “every male” in Num 18:10 connotes those with with spiritual strength.
Judah Smith
Pastor Prince mentions that Judah Smith is taking the Benjamin Generation message throughout the USA. Judah Smith first heard that message at Hillsongs Conference.
Leviticus 6:24-26
Lev 6:24 Also the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
Lev 6:25 “Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, “This is the law of the sin offering: In the place where the burnt offering is killed, the sin offering shall be killed before the LORD. It is most holy.
Lev 6:26 The priest who offers it for sin shall eat it. In a holy place it shall be eaten, in the court of the tabernacle of meeting.
No sin, no food for the priests.
In counselling, the counsellor must not reject the counsellor, you must give counsel to them. But in counselling, the counsellor must feed on Jesus, lest the counsellor becomes drained or defiled.
Like Joshua and Caleb, the problems are bread for us. It is with this attitude that they and us shall live long!
Difference between Sin and Trespass Offering
Sin offering deals with our nature. Whilst, trespass deals with our deeds.
God’s will for us is an uncondemned conscience and an emancipated heart.
The Blood of Christ at the Cross has both met the claims of God and cleared our conscience. It has dealt with sin at its roots and fruits.
It is the Blood itself, not your personal estimation of its efficacy. When you believe in the Blood, God calls this, Faith in the Blood of Jesus.
4 kinds of offerings can be made for the trespass offering
(1) Ram
(2) Lamb
(3) Pigeon or Dove
(4) 1/10 of an ephah of fin flour — if poor
Lev 5:7 “If he is not able to bring a lamb, then he shall bring to the LORD, for his trespass which he has committed, two turtledoves or two young pigeons: one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering.
Lev 5:11 “But if he is not able to bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons, then he who sinned shall bring for his offering one-tenth of an ephah of fine flour as a sin offering. He shall put no oil on it, nor shall he put frankincense on it, for it is a sin offering.
Why fine flour? As it denotes Jesus.
Love can be seen even in the Law
While grace and love are above and triumph over the Law, some parts of the Law illustrate love.
Examples:
Exo 21:27 And if he smite out his manservant’s tooth, or his maidservant’s tooth; he shall let him go free for his tooth’s sake.
Deu 22:6-7 If a bird’s nest happens to be before you along the way, in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs, with the mother sitting on the young or on the eggs, you shall not take the mother with the young; you shall surely let the mother go, and take the young for yourself, that it may be well with you and that you may prolong your days.
2 main categories of trespass
(1) Sin against God; (2) Sin against Man.
sin against God
Lev 5:14 Then the LORD spake unto Moses, saying:
Lev 5:15 If a soul commit a trespass, and sin through ignorance, in the holy things of the LORD; then he shall bring for his trespass unto the LORD a ram without blemish out of the flocks, with thy estimation by shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary, for a trespass offering:
Lev 5:16 And he shall make amends for the harm that he hath done in the holy thing, and shall add the fifth part thereto, and give it unto the priest: and the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering, and it shall be forgiven him.
But see,
Psalm 51:4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done [this] evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, [and] be clear when thou judgest.
David in Psalm 51:4 declares that he has sinned only against God. But how about the sins against Uriah, Bathsheba, etc. Ultimately, where man sins against man, that sin is seen as a subset of sin against God.
But praise God! Jesus took our place in restitution to pay back the Father, and much more (Lev 5:16)!
Lev 5:15 tells us that even “in the holy things of the LORD”, it is possible to sin and be defiled. We can observe this e.g. bad thoughts cross our minds when worshipping God, etc.
God is the actual gainer
God is actual gainer through redemption. He is in better position that if man never fell. The Gospel is the gospel of “much more”.
Jesus is divine trespass offering
man sinning against man
Lev 6:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Lev 6:2 If a soul sin, and commit a trespass against the LORD, and lie unto his neighbour in that which was delivered him to keep, or in fellowship, or in a thing taken away by violence, or hath deceived his neighbour;
Lev 6:3 Or have found that which was lost, and lieth concerning it, and sweareth falsely; in any of all these that a man doeth, sinning therein:
Lev 6:4 Then it shall be, because he hath sinned, and is guilty, that he shall restore that which he took violently away, or the thing which he hath deceitfully gotten, or that which was delivered him to keep, or the lost thing which he found,
Lev 6:5 Or all that about which he hath sworn falsely; he shall even restore it in the principal, and shall add the fifth part more thereto, [and] give it unto him to whom it appertaineth, in the day of his trespass offering.
Lev 6:6 And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the LORD, a ram without blemish out of the flock, with thy estimation, for a trespass offering, unto the priest:
Lev 6:7 And the priest shall make an atonement for him before the LORD: and it shall be forgiven him for any thing of all that he hath done in trespassing therein.
As can be seen in Leviticus 6:5, this is the divine principle of forgiveness – when we forgive, we not only experience restoration but we receive 120% more!
If the injured forgives his injurer, God adds to the injured! This is the beauty of the trespass offering. So friends, forgive your neighbours!
This is the amazing Gospel which forgives the injurer and over compensates the injured!
We can see this in action in the following examples:
(1) Before the fall, Adam was in charge of Eden. After the Jesus died on the Cross as our divine trespass offering, we are now joint heirs with Him – in charge of the universe.
(2) Before, Adam was innocent. Now, mankind is righteous, and justified.
Why forgive?
Another reason why God wants us to forgive is because He knows what’s best for us. He knows that if we hold on to bitterness and unforgiveness, it causes tumours, sickness in our bodies.
Facebook
Pastor related an incident whereby he chose to make restitution for accidentally damaging a neighbour’s car based on the principle of the trespass offering. Under Grace, you don’t have to make the restitution, but you get to. Choose the noble and high road! Having said that, under the NT, there is no condemnation if you don’t make restitution. Note that Jesus did not require the repentant thief on the cross next to His to make restitution, Jesus forgave him freely.
Pastor then related that his wife has no male ‘friends’ on her facebook website and vice-versa he observes the same principle.
God is very practical
Where man has offended God, the order of the trespass offering is to sacrifice first, then make restitution (see Leviticus 5:14-16).
Where man has offended man, the order is reverse! Restitution first, then sacrifice (see Leviticus 6:1-7).
Why? Where man has offended man, God is very practical and he was the relationship between the 2 human parties mended first. Therefore restitution first. Say sorry first before sacrificing to God.
Fault-finding people
But of course, where people are just intent on finding fault with you (like the Pharisees towards Jesus), then leave them alone. Take Jesus example, he did not before the Cross go around asking the Pharisees to forgive him!
Husband-wife relationship
Pastor shares with us that he would feel lousy and like a hypocrite if relationship between wife and him not good in the midst of his doing the Lord’s work.
God’s Grace
A prince gives, not sells. If they sell, it cheapens them. Likewise, God gives freely His Grace to us.
Eph 4:28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with [his] hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
Grace is greater than sin. The Grace of God takes a thief and makes him a liberal giver.
Trust God in relation to what you have lost, you will get it back and more!
Why was Jesus crucified between 2 thieves?
So that you will not be robbed left and right!
When you know that you are forgiven because of Christ’s work, you want to be like Jesus, and should you have done wrong to somebody, you know you don’t have to but you want to make restitution and compensate. Pastor relates the incident in which he damaged a neighbour’s car but sought out the owner to pay for the damage. You don’t have to but you get to.
On the other hand, do not to make this practice of making restitution for your personal wrongs a burden and binding on you. Pastor stressed that the repentant thief was not made to do restitution but was welcomed by Jesus immediately into Paradise. This is the New Covenant.
God is enriched
When we go to God, don’t go meekly. He is in fact pleased with you because you are now in Christ because of Jesus’ work and God is in fact enriched via Jesus the divine trespass offering.
Acts 3:20-21 – Times of restoration
Acts 3:20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
Acts 3:21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
Acts 3:22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
Note the expression – the times of restitution (restoration) of all things,
Jesus will not return until, health, dominion, man’s walk with God, etc — everything — is restored!
The best is yet to come!
Exodus 22:9 – It is the devil that is attacking us (not anybody else), don’t be confused! Therefore say ‘this is mine!’
For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour. [KJV]
For any kind of trespass, whether it concerns an ox, a donkey, a sheep, or clothing, or for any kind of lost thing which another claims to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whomever the judges condemn shall pay double to his neighbor. [NKJV]
Exodus 22:9 is about the devil trespassing against us as the names of the parties are not mentioned.
How do we invoke Heaven’s justice? By claiming it to be ours (NKJV) or proclaiming to the LORD that: this is mine (NIV)!
In all cases of illegal possession of an ox, a donkey, a sheep, a garment, or any other lost property about which somebody says, ‘This is mine,’ both parties are to bring their cases before the judges. The one whom the judges declare
[a] guilty must pay back double to his neighbor. [NIV]
Footnotes:
- Exodus 22:9 Or whom God declares
The word judges in “whom the judges declare” is Elohim / God.
For every matter of transgression, for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, for any lost thing of which it is said that it is his; unto God cometh the matter of them both; he whom God doth condemn, he repayeth double to his neighbour. [Young's Literal Translation]
GOD condemns the devil and he has to pay double to us!
Therefore, proclaim, that family peace, health, prosperity, etc is mine! Then the case shall go up to heaven where God can address it and condemn the devil to paying double to you in restitution.
GRACE = God through Jesus Christ fully fulfilling God’s holiness by meeting His claims eternally and perfectly.
