Shalom !
Ever wonder why David’s name means “beloved”?
I was thinking about David which in Hebrew is:
דָּוִד
Dalet – Vav – Dalet
ד Dalet is the Hebrew letter which symbolizes door .
וVav is the Hebrew letter which symbolizes the nail.
You can see that at the heart or centre of David’s name is the Vav (the nail). In between the two Dalets is the Vav.
What do you think of when you see the symbol for the nail?
Yes, that’s right ! JESUS !
Jesus was always at David’s core !
Jesus is always in the midst of us and He was in the midst of David’s name — literally !
It is no wonder that David had a consciousness that he was the beloved of God ! It is no wonder that David valued the Lord’s presence and wanted to bring the Ark of the Covenant back to Jerusalem !
I also like the fact that that there are two doors (Dalets) on the left and on the right of the Vav in David’s name.
What does the door remind you of?
Jesus of course !
Here are some verses …
Rev 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
In fact the pictograph of Dalet reminds me most of this verse:
Exodus 12:7 “And they shall take of the blood, and strike [it] on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. “
And because David’s name has two Dalet’s this verse is so appropriate as well:
“Blessed [shalt] thou [be] when thou comest in, and blessed [shalt] thou [be] when thou goest out.” Deu 28:6
Amen ! That’s so true of David’s life.
For us Believers , this message to the beloved Church of Philadelphia (meaning: brotherly love) , the message to us is this
“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. ” Rev 3:7- 8
” And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.” (Isa 22:22) The verse from Isaiah 22.22 is quoted in one and only one verse of the Bible, Revelation 3.7.
Look it is full number “2″s and speaks so much of Jesus, the second member of the trinity!
Amazing !
Praise Jesus !
We too are David’s !! Jesus is in our midst (Vav) and He is on our Left (Dalet) and on our Right (Dalet) !
Best,
