Christ seen in the shadows of Acts 27:44
Acts 27:44 “And the rest, some on boards, and some on [broken pieces] of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.”
Acts 28:1 “And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita.”
I was thinking about these verses a couple of minutes ago and I realized you can see Jesus Christ hidden in the shadows of these 2 verses.
The word “boards” — these are made of wood. Does this not remind you of the Cross of Jesus ? Or the boards of the Tabernacle which also speak of Jesus Christ ?
The ship — reminds me of all those instances when Jesus is depicted on boats. Jesus is in your boat as you sail through the seas of this earthly life.
It is through Jesus’ being broken on the Cross for us, that we escape safe to land !
What ‘s even more meaningful is that there are 2 instances of the Greek word – diasozo (Strong’s #1436) in Acts 27:44. [The first mention in NT is Matt 14:36 "... as many as touched were made perfectly whole "]
“escaped” — diasozo == first instance in Acts 27:44
“safe” — diasozo === second instance in Acts 27:44
Isn’t that so much like Jesus, always reassuring us that we saved to the uttermost.
Recall also Jesus, often calls his breathren twice “Martha, Martha”, or “Simon, Simom”
Dia-sozo is the compound of sozo – mult-faceted word for save, salvation and the word “dia” – by means of.
Matt 1:21 “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save [SOZO] his people from their sins.”
Also another interesting facet was the word translated into “land” in Acts 27:44 is ge (Strong’s 1093) has its first appearance here:
Matt 2:6 “And thou Bethlehem, [in] the land [GE] of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.’
Doubly Saved by Jesus AND brought into the LAND of the House of Bread in Praise [Judah] where JESUS is !!!!
It gets even better when we reach Acts 28:1
Acts 28:1 “And when they were escaped [DIASOZO again !] , then they knew that the island was called Melita.”
The word translated into “knew” is EPIGINOSKO or “to become thoroughly acquainted with, to know thoroughly”
Melita = Malta = Honey
We are saved and brought to the land of Honey by Jesus and thoroughly acquainted with it !
Guys, does that not remind you of the Land of Milk and Honey ! — type of Heaven
Interestingly, the Greek word tranlsated into ‘island’ is nesos which can be understood as ‘floating land’ — strengthens the typology of heaven here !
Hallelujah !!!!

I like it and the illustration are excellent!!
