REIGN THROUGH REST
Luke 10:38 – 42
(KJV) Luke 10:42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
V42 one thing is needful. Just rest and hear Jesus word
The pattern of sitting and hearing also consistent in OT
Exo 17:8 -13
Israel camped at resting places – Raphaedim.
Amalek . Amal : toilsome labor
First starts as fear, doubt , etc in your mind
Amalek came to attack at place of rest
When we are worried, we feel God , leaders etc let us down. See Martha
Lame man at pool at Bethesda was so focused on human agents that he did not ask for Jesus or his healing when Jesus met him! Instead he said nobody could bring him into pool when angel stirred waters
What is lifting up hands of Moses at the battle ? Praise , prayer ?
This was same rod at red sea parting where enemies buried. So it
speaks of finished work. Moses stood on a hill like the Old Rugged Cross.
Instead of lifting up negatives, lift up the Cross and what Jesus has done for your victory.
Believing unbeliever prayed to Jesus and experienced peace and delivered a child after 2 miscarriages ! Eventually prayed to know God and were led to receive Christ at Ncc.
Exo 17:14 – 16
Same pattern as God told Moses to write this and recount it in presence of Joshua. To hear that resting in Jesus finished work brings victory .
God knows that sometimes we are so close to our manifested blessing that at that point it still seems so dark , we should rest and keeping hearing His voice and goodness. Focus on goodness not the darkness
Analogy. Man was so close to emerging into a beautiful cave he wanted to explore but just prior to this, it seemed so dark and suffocating. Guide told him to keep cool and just focus on hearing guide’s voice that he is going to alright.
Focus on the lobby of God’s goodness and not the lor pi (hokkien for roadside)
One fight we have to fight : labor to enter rest! Moses hands many times wanted to go down . Find kingdom friends etc to help you lift up hands. Refuse toilsome labor
Exo 17:13 as a result of lifting those hands, Josh overwhelmed enemies !

… Their king will be greater than Agag
Agag is a title for a Amalakite king !
This was Kg of toilsome labor. He ruled thru toilsome labor
We rule thru rest !!!!
Jesus has conquered and his victory is our s !

Deu 33:12
Let the beloved of the lord rest secure in him for he shields us all day long
(KJV) Deuteronomy 33:12 [And] of Benjamin he said, The beloved of the LORD shall dwell in safety by him; [and the LORD] shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders.
Rest and u will reign
Jesus found his rest in loving us and saving us !
This word from God delivered pastor Lian from very stressful day

God will utterly block out Amalek (fear etc) from our lives !

One “word” I like from Ps Lian’s sermon was the new sound word that she has coined which is “FWA” — Fear, worry and anger.
She said along the line that God wants fear, worry and anger to be FWA FWA (FAR FAR) Away from us.
