Loud sounds soft music help the world drown out conscience.

Many Christians live in condemnation because Grace message not revealed to them.

One Canadian Christian was so much in bondage because of the constant condemnation that she was in drugs and nicotine addiction until hearing Pastor Prince on TV broke the condemnation and the bondage through Grace.

When you know you are forgiven past present and future sins, you fall in Love with Jesus and out of sin

Every sin is sin but the way you approach specific sins must be scriptural . Sexual sin : Flee from the attractive woman e.g Joseph fled from Potiphar’s wife

Don’t offer a ride to lady. We are all red blooded. Just call a cab and note the cab number to ensure she goes home safely. Do not trust the flesh.

You have faith. Eg : Someone who is 60 and is entitled to free MRT travel simply travels free in some countries. He does not ask whether he has enough faith to appropriate the free travel. Likewise, if you receive forgiveness when you accept Jesus Christ as saviour. You don’t ask if you have enough faith as regards the promises of God.

1 John 1:9

Every healing that he healed or sin that he forgave was put to his account and they received in present tense and it was eventually paid at the Cross. Now post Cross , every sin forgiven and healing received now was paid past tense at the Cross.

God poured all judgement and wrath on Jesus. All out sins put on Christ at the Cross

We received good because Another received the bad that we did deserve

Eph 1:7 : In Him we have redemption through his blood and forgiveness according to the riches of His Grace ( that is abundant ! )

God forgives all our sins from birth to death . It does not mean that once you sin again after receiving the new birth, you lose salvation lest you confess the sin afresh to God for renewed forgiveness

Forgiveness is not contingent on constant confession

When you sin again as a Believer, you do not lose your righteousness . Jesus blood is more powerful than Adam’s sin ! Bear this truth in mind when approaching interpretation of 1 John 1:9: How can a believer lose his righteousness if he does not confess every sin ?

Bible says whatever is not of faith is sin – do you confess every sin then ? Ignorance of the sin is not an excuse !

Rom 5:17 those who receive abundance of Grace and gift of righteousness reign in life. Reign over food, porn, other addiction. Reign over and be in control!

1 John 1:9 is not written to Believers

Pastor Prince used to believe the erroneous interpretation of 1 John 1:9 that even if he had bad thought during sleep , he would break the sleep to confess the sin! Even during games, he would stop playing to confess the sin ! During training in national service, he would stop halfway to confess sin ! Pastor had an obsession with confession ! He did not want to be out of fellowship with Jesus depending on whether he had or had not confessed sin. He almost lost his sanity because of this erroneous belief. It was a form of self – righteousness as pastor feared that he would lose his righteousness with God if he did not confess sin and would lose righteousness with God

Pastor realized that his constant confession of sin during national service did not bring glory to God as his friends thought he was weird when he did this frequently . Not salt to earth ! To the contrary, some feared him and distanced themselves from him.

No “beloved” or “little children” in 1st chapter to John: therefore written to non Believers

The wrong teaching of 1 John 1:9 is that confession would restore family communion .

It is simply not true that you as father break communion when child fails! That is when child need you most .

You don’t say, no food for you etc, until you say sorry.

You want the child to say sorry to learn good manners , not in order to restore fellowship with you !

1 Cor 1:9 : fellowship : koinonia – same word used in 1 John 1:9. Fellowship is dependent on Jesus Christ ! Not you !

Koinonia is same word used for fellowship , communion etc. There is only one kind of koinonia or fellowship between you and God – not different degrees depending on whether you sin or not.

No such thing that if you sin you lose fellowship or communion but maintain relationship with God when you sin. All same word : koinonia .

Error teaching is if you sin : break communion until the Believer says sorry to father !

If you believe that there are different kinds of communion, then, you believe you have lost communion when you fail , then the tendency is that you might as well stay in the valley.

Whereas right believing leads to right living ! If you fail and you realize you are still righteous and still in koinonia with God, you will ‘bounce’ back

When Cain sinned and slew Able, he could still God’s voice ! He knew God’s voice and God spoke to him and ministered to him. When you sin , God knows we need him most ! No breaking of communion for the Believer !

Ladies be the kind of gal that guys want but cannot get. Don’t dress shabby. Dress up and not dress down as if not enough cloth. You want a lion as a husband not a wolf that snaps at you

Corinthians opening is addressed to Saints viz Believers

1 John and Colossians written to combat Gnosticism – secret knowledge . They say that everything of matter and flesh is evil. They also say there is no sin. They believe there is a so called Christ in us all in a mystical way and that Christ cannot come in flesh and Christ is an ion floating around. Gnosticism teaches to hate flesh.

Christian science today believe no sin. Similar to gnostic

1 John 4:2-3 : therefore speaks that spirit of anti Christ denies Jesus came in flesh

Gnostic came as fusion of Jews living with gentile neighbors

Gnostics deny they have sin because they don’t believe in flesh

Look how John opens 1 John – It emphasized we touch him and saw him in flesh — not typical way of opening epistles addressed to believing saints

1 John 1 addressed to unbelievers !

John was using the EDITORIAL “we” In 1 John 1:9. John was saved already but he is speaking to those unsaved. Good way to address people and not offend them

Eg: I am not American but say “we must pray for US president and God can turns things around! “

Mark 1:5 : Jesus has not even started ministry. Yet you have sinners confessing their sins. No one before Cross is saved so they indeed are sinners.

Therefore 1 John 1:9 is a salvation verse as confession of sins can be for non – believers (mark 1:5) !

Judas not a believer. None of them saved before the Cross.

Form of pride to hang yourself like Judas: if only Judas had waited for the Cross to save all

Heb 10:1-2 : “once” – Gk: hapaks : once and for all

“purged” – perfect passive participle !

See NLT : purified once for all time and feelings of guilt would have disappeared

Once cleansed, ought not to have consciousness of sin !

Feeling guilty is not good as that is insulting Jesus. Form of the flesh manifesting. Flesh likes negative emotion and pity party.

Auto-immune diseases stems from this feeling of guilt

Devil sold us lie that it is good to feel guilty. Stop ! It will destroy you if you dwell in sin consciousness

Peter, James and John are the apostles to Jews. Paul was was apostle to Gentiles

Gal 2:7-9 gentlemen’s agreement that Paul ministry to Gentiles and Peter to Jews.

James 1: James writes to 12 tribes . Therefore some parts to Jews. Eg some parts in James calls then ‘sinners ‘ as not all Jews are saved : called them “double- hearted people” and urged then to ” cleanse hearts”

Some books written for Jews but of course we can benefit from then if we rightly divide the Word.

That is why books addressed to Gentiles placed first and books to Jews placed last in Bible even though these 3 walked with Jesus in person. These books will mean a lot to Jews when they are saved, as Church raptured by then.

1 JOHN 1:9 and whole chapter 1: we ate, we slept etc with Jesus — to combat gnosticism

1 John 2 is written to Believer as it begins with “little children”

Rom 10, also, paul stops and speaks to sinner ” if you confess sin you will be saved” but rom 1 opens with address to sins. But Majority of Rom written to Christians

Rom 16:25 – 26

V 25 : my gospel – Paul says

God gave directly to Paul : the revelation of Grace

So in proverbs 28:13 where you read about confession of sin to obtain mercy , it has to be seen in light of Pauline writings from ascended Christ

Kept secret : Rom 16:25-26 : now revealed

James, cephas , John ( gal 2:9) it is in order of NT whereas usually,Peter James John is the order in the gospels

Peter acknowledges that Paul has deeper revelation of Grace

Did early church practice confession of sins?no ! Paul wrote before 1 John 1:9 and he never mention confession one time. When Christians went to temple prostitutes and sued each other in court, Paul simply reminded them of their identity in Christ , he did not teach confession of sin

Paul first letter of Thessalonians written in AD 50s and 1 John was written in AD 90 s to AD 94 and Paul did not mention confession of sins! So early church did not possess such a doctrine ! Paul would have done them an injustice if this 1 John 1:9 doctrine was indeed truth for he did not include it in his letters !

The early church was without this doctrine and did much miracles ! All they has was Paul writings which said, You are forgiven !

John 20:19-20

‘For fear of the Jews ‘ : they were hiding out of sin

Fear is sin: see book of revelation – fearful and unbelieving were first group thrown into lake of fire.

God hates fear. God goes for the root cause.

Those who hold error of 1 John 1:9 – do they confess fear?

Those who steal – why ? They are fearful. Those who have sex before marriage – why ? Fear!

God goes for the root cause.

So by hiding in the upper room and not believing the ladies testimony that Jesus rose , is Sin !

Yet Jesus first word to them is Peace, and not Confess your sins!

Jesus shows them the basis for the love and peace : His wounds from the Cross

Look outside to Christ as the basis for. Peace, not look inside you.

Also Thomas did not believe and instead Jesus helped Thomas faith and did not tell Thomas to confess sin! Thomas ‘ only words were a declaration that Jesus was God !

The one that sins most, Jesus went to him straight to minister to him !

Jesus is our advocate for us ! not acting for prosecution . Jesus very presence and his wounds make intercession for our sins.

1 John 2:12

Diminutive term for dear ‘children’. -tecknyon – not about growth – referring to all dear children of God – all Church

Later Gk: padion is used in later chapters referring to growth

“forgiven” – perfect passive indicative – all sins forgiven for His name sake

An act that cannot be repeated: perfect passive indicative

We are forgiven for Jesus Name sake: outside of ourselves and our merits ! Don’t look within.

So we must not be schizo, 1 John 2 written to Believers , forgiveness for Jesus sake , but 1 John 1 written to non Christians , therefore confess to receive forgiveness

John knew that he can write in the perfect tense and though at the time he finished writing the letter the readers did not receive the letter of 1 John 2 yet, he knew they are forgiven perfect tense even though they might have sinned whilst the letter was in still in transit and the audience had not received the letter. The letter does not get outdated notwithstanding the transit time, John has the confidence to write that in any assembly of Believers for ALL time.

KNOW YE NOT … That you are a child of God and forgiven etc

Paul never confess the sins of the church . Paul always pray may you have the wisdom etc of what you ALREADY have in Christ !

Cf old testament where David , Daniel, Moses confess sins to God of his people.

Confession of sin is a very Jewish thing

New testament – break fellowship is:
Post script: there is apostolic power or grace in church , there was one guy out of thousands in Corinth who was singled out because he repeatedly sinned and lived with his step mother. Paul said that this guy should be delivered to satan for destruction of flesh . It affected others in Church with this lifestyle. So Paul said, deliver to satan. What is that? Is it death ? Probably not . Isolated incident. In 2 Cor, this man had survived and repented , but church did not want to restore fellowship and Paul had to write to them to urge them to do so.

Confession or Gk : homologio In 1 John 1:9: say the same thing that God said about your sin which is that they have all been propitiated for by Jesus ! That was what we all said when we received Jesus as saviour . John told Gnostics to stop denying there is no sin and to homologio what God said about their sin

  1. He didnt talk about homologeou in 1st service. Has he ever preached a sermon concerning the jewish books useful for the jews when we get raptured?

    • tycm says:

I think that this is the first time that Pastor Prince has alluded to why James, Peter and John were placed in the order that they were placed near end of Bible, and they are the books meaningful to Jews when we are raptured as Church prior to many Jews receiving Christ as saviour.

  2. L says:

When you know you are forgiven past present and future sins, you fall in Love with Jesus and out of sin!

Again, thank you for taking notes on the sermons. I have found the above comment to be so true. Also, as I thank God for sending Jesus to die for my sins not only am I falling in love with Jesus, but I”m falling in love with my husband, my children, and most shockingly I find loving my enemies, praying for them, and forgiving them.

I John 1:9 has been a verse I’ve struggled with since listening to Pastor Prince. This sermon cleared up the doubts of needing to constantly ask God to forgive me and to just believe He already has and I am free!!!

    Blessings to you today,

    L

  3. Chrissie says:

      • christine says:

Life is ok & getting much better day by day, busy feeding on the spiritual food here & listening to Pastor Prince’s messages whenever I can access them. I really want to know more about the holy communion, can you help?

  5. Caroline Evans says:

Hi there, greetings from southern California, USA! Thank you for your blog, I really appreciate your notes and other musings on grace. I have been listening to Joseph Prince’s sermons faithfully for 4 years now and my life has been so radically blessed and transformed! I really wish we could live in Singapore and attend NCC with you all. The Lord has put it on my heart to write a blog too about grace but I’m not sure where to start or what approach to take. Any advice on getting started?

    • tycm says:

      hischarisisenough.wordpress.com

That the link to a blog my friend maintains. He is a lawyer in Malaysia and preaches sometimes. You could follow his approach for a start. He finds Grace related articles from the web and posts them on his blog. Hope this helps

  6. L says:

    Hi Caroline,

God has been laying the same thoughts on my mind regarding a blog about Grace! I’ve also wondered if a blog could be put together that was a teaching-blog. One that actaully had lessons on how to learn these life transforming words on grace. Looking up verses, what they mean, hebrew and greek meanings etc. What about pulling forces and working together in sequence with the sermons of Joseph Prince? I would be interested in talking with you or anyone interested and thinking God is calling them to this type of service. God has brought us all to this place, to the teachings of Pastor Prince for a reason ~ and transforming it is! I would just love to interact more with people that are learning how much God loves them and how His Grace…Jesus is transforming our lives!

I can be contacted at: http://whispersmyname.blogspot.com/

Excited to see how God works in these desires :)

    Blessings,

    L
