MEDITATE FOR GOOD SUCCESS

Psalm 92:12 also talks about the palm tree

We can ask God for good things to happen to us this year.

We can ask God for good days in 2012

Refrain your tongue from speaking evil and complaining in 2012

Jabez asked God to bless him and for the Lord to expand his coast ( I,e, properties ) and to keep him from evil ( disease etc )

Unless you are blessed you cannot be a blessing to others

You need to pray to ask God to intervene to exercise his covenant rights

God had given authority to man and man had given to devil.

Unless you pray God will not move. You have to pray to ask him to come in on his covenant with us through Jesus

Some times good happen but you did not pray . Why ? Somebody prayed . Maybe prayed in tongues

Let’s say you are fearful . So just simply meditate to yourself , the Lord has not given me a spirit of fear But a sound mind

Just chew on the word and when the time comes there will be milk or food for the people . Simply focus on the word !

Muir Woods. Pastor spent some time here. Saw large red wood trees .

Job 14 : 7 – 9

Hope for a tree that has been cut down. There is hope for us ! God likens us to trees.

That its tender shoots will grow forth again

At the smell of water it will bud

Water typifies holy spirit or word of God

Maybe there are dead spots in your mind , God can revive them as you spend time in God ‘s word

Hagin says if he is sick , he doubles up on the Word

Jonathan Edwards says that when he reads the scriptures most he is most lively and in the best frame .

That sense of being healthy comes when you spend time in the Word

Memorization before meditation on the Word

You need to commit the verse to memory before you can bring it up through out the day to meditate

Whatever you do will prosper if you mutter or muse on Word. Psalm 1.

Job 25:5

Paths of seas mentioned also in Job. British naval officer saw this and he charted path of seas and his book became first book for maritime navigation

Condensation . Rain. also mentioned in Job.

Morning stars sing . Job records this also. Scientists now tell us that stars emit high Frequency radio waves

As far as east is from west God has removed transgressions sin from us. David said under inspiration . Only true of a spherical earth in globe form

God hangs the earth on nothing. Science also bears this out now

Bible is scientifically accurate but it is not about science . It is about Jesus

So choose to meditate on Jesus and covenant truths in NT and promises in OT

Do not meditate on OT laws eg thou shall nots !

Do this one thing and you will prosper !

Every time God mentions meditate , prosperity or profit follows. Eg
Psalm 1. Whatever you do prospers – even mistakes !

1 Tim 4

Let no men despise his youth . Gk word for youth covers those up to 40

Same principles Paul shared with Tim for being a effective pastor also applies to us now

Tim 4:7 – 8

Reject profane and old wives fables . Eg don’t point to moon .

Let God ‘s Word be our culture.

Let motivate people with love and grace and not with fear from old wife fables

What is Godliness according to Word ?

Col 1:16 – 17 See NASB

Everything is through and for Him

Everything held together through Jesus

Back to 1 tim

Bodily exercise profits a little only in area for feeling fit

But godliness profitable for all things

Don’t label people . Some you think proud may be boasting in the Lord and truly humble . Eg David . Whilst those who appear humble may be filled with pride

Psalm 1:4 those who are ungodly are those who don’t meditate . See the contrast with 1:3

1 Tim 3:16 – GODliness has to do with the person of Jesus

Pastor gives good tip. Write down the verse numbers first before the name of the book

Eg 3:16 Timothy 1

Many a times when you are prospering the company will prosper

Meditate is meletao

- Used of Greeks in meditative pondering by rhetoricians before speech

LXX Septuagint translates Joshua 1:8 meditate (hagah) as meletao (Gk)

George Mueller himself attributed his long life to three causes. He stated these three causes often.

• “First, he exercised himself to have always a conscience void of offence both toward God and toward men. (Acts 24:16)

• “Secondly, to the love he felt for the Scriptures, and the constant recuperative power they had upon his whole being. (Proverbs 3:2,8; 4:22)

• “Thirdly, to that happiness he felt in God and in His work, which relieved him of all anxiety and needless wear and tear in his labors.” (Psalm 55:22):

Back to Timothy. God says when you meditate – profiting appears to ALL even unbelievers

Take heed unto doctrine. This means continue preaching Grace and rightly divide Word

” and SAVE (sozoe) ..”

This here implies wider aspect of save as Tim already saved unto eternal life in Jesus

So when you preach the word you are making yourself healthy and those that hear you healthy . Save both yourself and those who hear you

Get excited about sharing the Word . This applies to everybody. The word pulpit does not appear. You can share across lunch

Pastor himself when he feels ill, he preaches himself back to health

This is preacher’s secret to health!

The ministry by which others are blessed , God has ordained the same ministry is through which you the preacher are saved to health

Those who are hearing are constantly blessed in their hearing

Psalm 92:12 – 15

Cedar and palm trees are both evergreen trees

Cedar can grow to 300 years

We flourish like cedar

Song of Songs say Jesus appearance is like Cedar tree . Regal

Because of oil , no fungus grows on cedar tree

Cedar Oil also repels insects

That is why cedar wood is popular furniture and you can use cedar in home to repel insects

We are like cedar trees and repel evil spirits like Satan the belzebub (lord of flies)

Fragrant yet repel disease (fungus ) and evil sprits (insects)

Planted in house of God (YHWH ) , flourish in courts viz outside in world and God (Elohim ) will cause this

God will bring forth fruit in OLD AGE

Flourishing is Hebrew – ra ‘ anan – green

Invest your time this year in things which cause you to prosper ! Mediate on God’s Word !
